Fuda think that transcribe scription was easy peasy lemon squeezy wouldn't Yeah, I mean, all you have to do is listen and type. At least that's what we called it back in the old days typing. I think the youngsters of today call it keyboarding or some such fancy schmancy hooptie do. Anyway, it all involves those computer thingies that most everyone nowadays has grown up with, including 99.9% of every current GoTranscript worker of any stripe. Back in those musty golden oldie days, though, when some of us first learned the delicate art of transcription. We had these big clunky headphones, giant foot pedals and reel to reel tape players called Dictaphones. Any GoTranscript worker who's old enough to remember those days knows what I'm talking about when I say those machines could survive a nuclear war.
Speaker 2:
In fact, remember that old Twilight Zone episode where Burgess Meredith is hiding down in the bank vault when the H bomb goes off, comes upstairs to find that everything's been reduced to rubble. He hears a voice and thinks it's another person. Nope. It's the last recording his boss made on one of those Dictaphone recorders, which actually managed not to get liquidated in the explosion. I bet your iPhone or Android won't be as lucky. Not that I think any bombs are going to go off anytime soon. Especially now that you know who is no longer president. But you know, during the last year when we were all quarantined, I wound up watching a lot of old movies. The scariest ones were the ones that depicted life after the bomb with a capital B went off.
Speaker 2:
Remember the day after testament threads? I watched them all and boy did they bring back memories of the 80s when we were all scaring ourselves with nuclear destruction. At least now we can comfort ourselves with the knowledge that the most likely bombs awaiting us in the near future are the reboots of Fraser Lowe House on the Prairie and Punky Brewster. You think they'd have learned their lesson from the lameness? That was the new improved MST 3k? I mean, talk about bombs. I mean, that one was really sad because it had so much potential to be great. I mean, it's not like there haven't been any more bad movies since Joel and Mike retired. Oh, well. It's always possible something fantastic could materialize. Who knows? Maybe you the potential GoTranscript worker could come out with a reality show called edit that transcript or interpret that unintelligible tag. I know I'd watch it.
